Overview

As Engineering Support Manager, you will lead assurance, quality and compliance activities for the Royal Navy Support Portfolio, driving safe, high-quality engineering services. You will collaborate with contract managers, delivery leads and stakeholders to improve performance, develop teams and promote a proactive safety culture. The role combines governance, data‑driven improvements and customer-facing assurance to support critical defence operations. You will influence engineering excellence across the portfolio and contribute to ongoing growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assurance, audit and compliance activities to meet regulatory, contractual and operational requirements
  • Support delivery of contractual and operational performance targets
  • Lead quality and audit programmes ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Support and develop teams to achieve high performance standards
  • Champion a positive safety and reporting culture with proactive risk management
  • Analyse performance and assurance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Oversee engineering authorisations, competency management and apprentice development
  • Support governance, customer assurance and performance reporting across the contract
  • Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and suppliers for effective service delivery
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Quality Management System and portfolio growth initiatives

Key requirements

  • Experience in a military or civil aviation engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of quality, compliance and assurance processes
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations and root cause analysis
  • Proven leadership with team development experience
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
