Overview

As Engineering Team Lead, you guide a team of engineers to build, maintain, and optimize microservices powering Smarkets products. You drive technical direction, mentoring, and high-impact delivery while prioritizing scalable, low-latency solutions. You collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on the roadmap and ensure excellence in our stack. This role offers the chance to shape core services and adopt advanced technologies to improve performance and reliability. Responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of engineers from junior to tech-leads
• Drive sprint planning with proper scoping in collaboration with Program Management
• Hire and retain top talent, keeping the team motivated and challenged
• Foster career growth and progression of engineers within the team
• Set and improve engineering standards and processes to maintain excellence
• Explore and define next technology adoption paths to future-proof the stack
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and internal events
• Model best practices by hands-on implementation and guiding architectural decisions

Key requirements

• 3+ years of experience building microservices for high speed and high scale products
• 3+ years of experience with a modern technology stack (Rust, C++, Java, etc)
• Previous experience leading a team technically or directly
