Head of Finance Business Partnering – Functions & Workforce Strategy

Overview

In this role you will lead the FP&A efforts for Wise’s Core Functions, guiding a small team to deliver strategic financial planning, growth-focused cost control, and workforce analytics. You’ll partner with the CPO and senior leaders to shape global workforce strategy, headcount governance, and location expansion. You will translate financial data into actionable narratives for executives and drive scalable, data-driven processes. This is a high-impact position at a fast-growing fintech, blending finance leadership with strategic people-focused planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop two Senior Finance Business Partners and an Analyst to deliver cohesive planning and cost control across Functions
• Translate complex financial data into actionable strategic narratives for leadership impacts
• Define and own KPIs for organisational health, span of control, location concentration, and cost-per-head
• Oversee global headcount governance and employee benefits planning with cross-functional stakeholders
• Drive automation of headcount tracking and benefits reporting for scalable, data-driven architectures
• Partner with the CPO and People Leadership Team on long-term workforce strategy including location expansion, talent mapping, and organisation design
• Provide executive-level influence, turning data into insights that guide global investment decisions
• Scale the team and foster cross-functional collaboration across offices and time zones

Key requirements

• Proven track record managing senior finance professionals and cross-functional collaboration
• Extensive experience partnering with senior leadership in People and Functions
• Experience managing complex headcount structures and long-term workforce planning
• Strong data and automation mindset, KPI dashboards, and predictive models
• Advanced financial modelling and enterprise planning experience (preferably Anaplan)
• Professional finance qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or MBA / Masters with IFRS knowledge
