Overview
In this role you will lead electrical safety and SAP activities across the Severn Trent region within Galliford Try’s Environment Business. You mentor STW SAPs, represent GT at safety forums, and ensure electrical installation work meets UK standards and GT procedures. You will drive safe delivery of electrical packages, coordinate between project teams and SAPs, and maintain documentation and RAMS. This is a safety‑focused, senior capability role that shapes electrical governance on high‑value water projects.

Responsibilities
- Lead electrical safety across the Severn Trent region and represent GT at STW Electrical Forums
- Act as STW SAP Mentor and contact for STW SAPs, attending SAP meetings
- Coordinate between project management and GT STW SAPs for labour/resource allocation
- Perform GT STW SAP duties including LV switching operations and adherence to Electrical Safety Rules
- Audit GT STW SAPs and GT Authorising Engineers for compliance with Safety Rules
- Mentor and assess GT STW SAPs; ensure PMP responsibility for on-site electrical safety when multiple SAPs are present
- Maintain Site Safety Agreement tracker, RAMS, and document control for LV SAP works
- Develop and improve processes for managing electrical work on STW projects; ensure regulatory compliance
- Identify training needs for LV SAPs and coordinate training programs
- Promote a strong safety culture and stay current with regulations and best practices
- Collaborate with STW representatives, GT project teams, and contractors on electrical safety and process improvements
- Support design teams with technical input on electrical systems and ensure compliance with WIMES and client specs
- Coordinate electrical activities with subcontract resources to meet project requirements and programme
- Ensure all electrical testing aligns with the Inspection and Test Plan
Key requirements
- Career background in Water or similar industry
- Ability to manage site delivery of electrical installations and interface with Client
- Experience delivering electrical installation to project takeover
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office for reporting
- Understanding of health, safety and environmental approaches
- Understanding of water industry processes and mechanical/electrical equipment in water sector
- Training: HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, CSCS/ECS card, EUSR Water Hygiene, SMSTS (preferred) with SSSTS (minimum), First Aid (preferred), BS7671 18th edition, City & Guilds 2391/2394/95, Authorised Person Module, DSEAR/CompEx preferred
