INTERNAL VACANCY

This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Widening Participation Manager to lead the new mA*ths Online Programmes, facilitated and funded by the Hg Foundation and delivered through a growing partnership of universities.

Launching in autumn 2026, these new programmes will complement the university’s established post-16 access and widening participation outreach provision. Specifically, they will support A level Maths and Further Maths students from underrepresented backgrounds to achieve A and A* grades at A level and progress to, and succeed in, higher education.

Working closely with the School of Mathematical Sciences and external partners, you will oversee the planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting of the programmes, ensuring high-quality outcomes and compliance with Hg Foundation targets.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape innovative widening participation initiatives and make a lasting impact on students’ educational opportunities and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the mA*ths Online Programmes
  • Develop partnerships and stakeholder relationships with schools, colleges, academics, funders, and external organisations to maximise programme impact and success
  • Provide effective leadership, budget management, and evaluation, using data and evidence to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate impact

About You

You will be an experienced professional with a deep understanding of widening participation. You will bring:

  • Proven project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of higher education policy, widening participation issues, and pre-16/post-16 education

Why Join Us?

You will have the opportunity to lead meaningful work that supports our goals and our Access and Participation Plan, and contributes to our vision of a fairer, more inclusive higher education landscape.

This full-time, fixed-term (for an initial period of 3 years) role, is available to start as soon as possible and will require working some hours outside normal working hours, on evenings and weekends, for which time is given back in lieu.

Further information is available in the role profile.

We anticipate interviews taking place on 14th October.

Please contact Pete Bruce ( peter.bruce@nottingham.ac.uk ) if you have further questions about this role. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
