The job is based within the Hearing Resource Base at Cogan Primary School, Penarth. You would be part of an energetic and supportive team who are passionate about the education of deaf young people.About the rolePay Details: Grade 5, spinal point 8-12 £27,709 – £29,542 Pro Rata £14.36 – £15.31 Per HourHours of work: 30 hours, 5 days a weekMain place of work: Vale of Glamorgan Hearing Resource Base at Cogan Primary School, PenarthDescription: The role involves supporting pupils with hearing loss to access the curriculum using a variety of communication approaches and enabling them to be fully involved in all aspects of school life. On a day-to-day basis, this entails in class support for individual pupils and one to one or small group work within the Resource Base. The pupils are enthusiastic, motivated and a delight to work with. The successful candidate will work with pupils with hearing loss across progression steps 1-3.The role may also require supporting the Hearing Support team with outreach work in other schools within the Vale of Glamorgan when needed. About youYou will need to have :Understanding of the different educational and social needs of pupils with hearing loss and additional learning needs and the effects of hearing loss on learningPrevious and recent experience working with children in a secondary school settingAbility to support pupils with hearing loss across all curriculum areasEffective communication skills, both verbal and written.Good analytical and problem solving skills.Able to work independently with initiative but also as part of a team.Good organisation skillsWilling and able to learn new skillsAbility to promote pupils’ independent learningGood general standard of education including ‘C’ grade or above in English and Maths GCSE as a minimumPrepared to undertake relevant training as requiredBSL Level 2 or above (or willing to attain this in own time)Willing to carry out outreach work under direction of Teacher of the Deaf as required
