Accounting Job – Tax Officer – London – M

Overview

In this role you will oversee UK tax matters for the business, ensuring full compliance and efficient tax processes. You will work within the Finance team to manage corporate and payroll taxes, VAT submissions, and import/export duties, maintaining strong HMRC liaison. The position focuses on accurate tax reporting, identifying planning opportunities, and supporting audits. This is a permanent, office-based opportunity in Central London with a clear path to impact in a tax-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary contact with HMRC for tax matters
• Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation and reporting requirements
• Manage Corporation Tax returns and payroll taxes
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and handle VAT treatment for vehicle sales
• Oversee import/export and customs duties compliance
• Verify and process RTI submissions for payroll
• Support tax-related data for ME/YE closings and audits
• Provide tax documentation and advise on tax efficiency

Key requirements

• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance (ATT, CTA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
• At least 5 years proven experience in UK tax compliance
• Strong knowledge of VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, EORI and UK GAAP
• Experience within the automotive sector
• Familiarity with HMRC systems and online filing platforms
