Overview

In this leadership role, you define and advance learning science at Faculty, shaping learning design, evaluation, and playbooks for AI-powered education solutions. You’ll work with product, engineering and data science to build scalable, data-rich learning systems that measurably improve learning outcomes. You will lead rigorous evaluations and mentor teams, contributing to safety and assurance across education-focused AI. This is a founding leadership mandate in a mission-driven, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of learning goals, skill models, adaptivity logic and feedback systems across flagship engagements
  • Create and own Faculty’s Learning Science Playbook with scaffolding, feedback, measurement rubrics and data instrumentation
  • Design and oversee formative, summative and quasi-experimental evaluations to prove learning impact
  • Collaborate with product, data science and engineering to ensure robust, pedagogically sound learning systems
  • Contribute learning science expertise to safety and assurance work for education AI systems
  • Coach and mentor colleagues across product, UX and data science in applying learning science
  • Represent Faculty as internal and external subject-matter expert on learning science in strategic discussions with stakeholders
  • Shape national curriculum-grounded infrastructure and evaluation architectures within high-stakes educational contexts

Key requirements

  • Expert-level knowledge of learning sciences, instructional design, and cognitive/behavioural science
  • Ability to translate learning science into actionable requirements for technical teams
  • Experience evaluating learning impact with study design and data collection decisions
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, data scientists or product developers to influence system design
  • Technical literacy in how AI systems are built and a willingness to deepen knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and represent the discipline externally
