Underwriting Operations

Overview

In this role you will oversee risk administration and governance for the Political Risks & Political Violence underwriting teams, coordinating with the Underwriting Team, Operations, and Outsourced Partners. You will lead training, standardise processes, and monitor KPIs to ensure high data quality and efficient service delivery. You will drive process improvements and outsourcing opportunities within a London Market insurance context, shaping how operations support underwriting goals. This is a collaborative, governance-focused position with a clear impact on customer outcomes and organizational culture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee risk administration SOPs, process flow charts, and controls for the Underwriting Teams
• Amend documentation annually or as business changes occur
• Serve as key contact and escalation point between Underwriting Team, Operations, and Outsourced Partner
• Respond to stakeholder queries to ensure efficient service
• Attend/lead meetings with relevant stakeholders
• Manage and train the Underwriting Operations Team
• Standardise services with other Underwriting Operations Partners for flexible support during peak periods
• Identify opportunities to automate or outsource tasks and follow governance/testing processes
• Monitor daily/weekly/monthly KPIs and report to Senior Operations and Underwriting Management
• Coordinate shared email boxes supporting the Underwriting Team; triage correspondence to avoid backlogs
• Monitor data quality entry by Outsourced Partner and Operations Assistants; perform root cause analysis
• Support the board to maintain customer-focused policies and fair treatment of customers

Key requirements

• Insurance operations experience
• Familiarity with London Market Insurance processes and systems
• Experience in team leadership/training (implied)
