Group Finance Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead project accounting and financial control across a PE-backed specialist consultancy. You will partner with operational teams and senior management to scale finance processes and support acquisitions and integration. The position combines project revenue recognition, budgeting, and system implementation with a focus on transformation and commercial decision-making. You will drive automation and ensure timely, accurate reporting to support growth and value creation.

Responsibilities

• Act as Project Accountant across multiple business units with visibility to finance and operations
• Own project accounting and financial reporting, meeting deadlines
• Manage project revenue recognition (WIP, accrued/deferred income, over/under billing)
• Drive WIP-to-invoice cycle and timely billing
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning and project margin analysis
• Partner with operational teams during systems implementations and transformations
• Support month-end close, journals, reconciliations and management reporting
• Assist with audits and auditor requests for project accounting schedules
• Support finance workstreams during acquisitions, including system integration and controls alignment
• Monitor M&A integration costs and reporting against budgets and synergies
• Build relationships across the group as the go-to for project accounting and systems
• Identify risks, cost overruns and control weaknesses, with improvements
• Drive process improvements through automation and AI-enabled solutions

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• 3+ years’ post-qualified finance experience
• Strong experience in Project Accounting, Project Controls or Finance Business Partnering
• Solid knowledge of project-based revenue recognition (WIP, accrued income, over/under billing)
• Experience budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Experience supporting statutory audits and working with external auditors
• Strong month-end accounting knowledge (journals, accruals, reconciliations, management reporting)
• Experience with finance systems implementations, integrations or transformation projects
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Commercially minded with strong analytical/problem-solving abilities
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
