Overview

In this role you will lead the strategy and operations for acquiring, discovering and providing access to library resources, ensuring cost-effective management of the Library Materials Budget. You will head the Content Acquisition & Access Team and collaborate with library and sector partners to plan future access and services. You will drive continuous improvement in e-resource operations and support teaching, learning, and research. Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategies for acquiring, discovering and providing access to library print and electronic resources
  • Oversee annual procurement cycles and manage a multi-million pound budget
  • Lead and develop the Content Acquisition & Access Team to deliver services and innovations
  • Plan and initiate improvements in acquisition and e-resource operations
  • Collaborate with internal library colleagues and sector partners on future provision and access to scholarly resources
  • Address challenges in providing effective access to resources to support teaching, learning and research

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience in academic/research libraries leading content acquisition and e-resources
  • Experience managing large, complex budgets
  • Experience managing a large team
  • Strong understanding of the academic library content supply chain and role of consortia
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent IT skills with integrated library management systems and data analysis
