Healthcare Assistant -Day Surgery unit, Plymouth
- Salary: £12557.48 per year
- Part-time: 19 hours per week
- Shifts: Weekday either 07:00-17:30 or 07:00-19:00 with one Saturday per month 07:00-19:00

What you’ll be doing
As a Ward Healthcare Assistant within our Day Surgery Unit, you’ll provide high-quality clinical and administrative support under the direction of registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Welcoming patients and supporting the admission process
- Preparing patients for surgery and procedures
- Monitoring and recording vital signs
- Supporting patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and rehabilitation needs
- Assisting with venepuncture and cannulation activities following competency sign-off
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
- Supporting infection prevention and control practices
- Acting as a chaperone during clinical examinations
- Providing excellent patient-focused care and customer service
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment
What we’ll look for in you
To succeed in this role, you’ll be a compassionate team player with a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
You Will Ideally Have
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Experience working within a healthcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT and administrative skills
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- A flexible and positive approach to work
- Basic Life Support skills or willingness to undertake training
- An understanding of confidentiality, data protection and patient dignity
Previous experience in a hospital environment and an NVQ Level 3 qualification would be advantageous.
