Overview

In this Senior Product Manager role, you will shape product visions for public services and steer cross-functional teams through GDS-aligned delivery. You’ll work with central government departments to transform digital services, balancing policy, security, and user needs. You’ll coach delivery teams, align stakeholders, and apply AI and new technologies to improve outcomes for citizens. This role blends leadership, policy influence, and hands-on product delivery in a mission-driven consultancy setting.

Responsibilities

  • Drive measurable client outcomes and deliver tangible value
  • Inspire and guide colleagues by translating client needs into context and buy-in
  • Provide team leadership and shield the team from distractions to focus on delivery
  • Engage stakeholders to create a project vision, roadmap and prioritized backlog
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse set of experts and stakeholders
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering end-to-end digital services for central government clients
  • Leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance delivery and quality
  • Guide products through GDS service assessments (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live) and ensure alignment across departments

Key requirements

  • Strong GDS experience and evidence of shaping policy to support digital citizen services
  • Ability to lead a team of specialists and build consensus across diverse perspectives
  • Evidence-driven decision making focused on user-centered outcomes
  • Capability to bridge gaps between stakeholders, policymakers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Skill in balancing policy and security constraints while prioritizing work
  • Proficiency in delivery methods (Scrum, Kanban) and confident external communication
  • Experience running workshops and facilitating remote/in-person sessions
  • Ability to mentor others in product and user-centric capabilities
  • Deep knowledge of the GDS Service Standard and service assessments across multiple phases
  • Experience working with or across central government bodies (e.g., DWP, MoJ, DfE, MoD, ONS)
  • Strong communication and credibility in representing the company and client
