Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of electrical products across Zephyr programmes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to maintain the digital design record and collaborate with internal teams as well as external manufacturing partners. The role offers exposure to evolving programmes and challenging design work in a growing organisation. You will help shape electrical solutions that support Zephyr’s high-altitude capabilities, delivering impactful aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support Avionics and Systems Engineering in developing and maintaining production design records for new concepts and changes.
  • Create detailed electrical designs using SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Select electrical components to meet schematic and system-level requirements.
  • Serve as a primary contact for electrical design queries across engineering and production.
  • Provide hands-on support to the build line to resolve electrical issues.
  • Participate in design maturity gate reviews per AALTO design processes.
  • Manage design changes in line with configuration and change control processes.
  • Collaborate with Production and Procurement to address Design for Manufacture early in the lifecycle.

Key requirements

  • Developing experience in aviation-focused electrical design.
  • ONC/HND in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Experience with PDM systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience resolving emergent electrical issues and developing innovative solutions.
  • Experience translating system-level requirements into complete design solutions.
