Overview

As Associate Director, you lead end-to-end cost management on a high-profile London infrastructure project, acting as the main client interface and ensuring value-driven delivery. You guide feasibility, procurement, cost planning, and post-contract cost control, while potentially leading a cost team. You work across client and consultant interfaces to secure outcomes aligned with the project brief and Turner & Townsend’s standards. This role offers impact across major programmes and opportunities to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end cost management and commission delivery
  • Conduct feasibility studies and procurement reporting
  • Apply value management techniques at project outset
  • Oversee estimating, cost planning, and final cost plans
  • Manage procurement stages from pre-qualification to contract preparation
  • Control post-contract cost variances and change procedures
  • Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports
  • Engage in value engineering and life-cycle costing
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts
  • Interface with client and other consultants across project stages
  • Lead a cost management team where appropriate
  • Develop new business opportunities with existing and new clients
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Contribute to bids for new work
  • Improve cost management procedures, templates, and tools
  • Staff management and participation in recruitment and appraisals
  • Knowledge management and sharing

Key requirements

  • Proven cost/commercial management experience
  • MRICS preferred
  • Experience with NEC3 contracts (Option C – Target Cost)
  • Post-contract administration experience
  • Experience on major programmes and infrastructure projects (rail, aviation, water/utilities, highways)
