Overview
As Audit Manager in Saffery’s Not-for-Profit Division, you will supervise a varied charity portfolio and work closely with partners to deliver high-quality audits aligned to each organisation’s mission. You’ll lead engagements end-to-end, advise on technical accounting and governance, and contribute to business development and firm initiatives. You’ll mentor junior staff and stay current on charity sector changes, shaping impactful outcomes for clients. This role offers a collaborative, values-driven environment with opportunities to grow and influence the not-for-profit practice.

Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of charity and not-for-profit clients, ensuring tailored, high-quality audit delivery
- Lead audits from planning to completion, including risk assessment and internal control evaluation
- Provide guidance on technical accounting issues and sector best practices as a trusted advisor
- Support business development, including tender preparation and identifying opportunities within existing relationships
- Mentor and supervise audit seniors and trainees to promote learning and development
- Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting charity accounting and governance
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives (training, recruitment, diversity and inclusion)
- Utilise MS Teams, Excel, Word, CCH Audit Automation, and CCH Accounts Production to manage workflows
Key requirements
- ACA/ACCA qualified with a good exam record and audit/accounting practice experience
- Knowledge of current charity sector issues and Charities SORP
- VAT and tax awareness for charities is useful but not essential
