Stunning Central London office with a free drinks and snacks station

The role

We’re looking for a Project Leader to take ownership of delivery excellence and client relationship management within our Retail Banking practice. You’ll lead the execution of high quality client engagements across our benchmarking and market research work, support senior colleagues on commercial efforts, and begin building your own client relationships as you grow into broader commercial and leadership responsibilities.

You’ll be trusted to run client engagements with real independence once you’re up to speed, with senior oversight from our Principals and Senior Principals in your first 3 to 6 months while you get familiar with how BCG Expand works. From there, you’ll work increasingly hand in hand with senior colleagues on pitches, proposals and go to market materials, progressively sourcing new business of your own over time, both within BCG and directly with clients.

This is a role for someone with a genuine interest in retail banking, strong analytical instincts, and the ambition to grow toward Principal level. It’s not a 9 to 5 role. It rewards people who bring energy, curiosity and personal ownership to everything they touch.

What you will do

Leading the delivery of retail banking client engagements, managing timelines, data accuracy and quality

Interrogating, analysing and synthesising benchmarking data into actionable insights and compelling client narratives

Coordinating junior team members to produce high quality outputs

Acting as the day to day client contact on assigned engagements

Building trusted relationships with mid-to-senior client counterparts

Presenting analytical findings and recommendations to senior client stakeholders with confidence and clarity

Supporting Principals and Senior Principals on go-to-market and business development efforts, including client pitches, proposals and go to market materials

Progressively sourcing new business over time, both internally within BCG and externally with clients

Coaching and guiding analysts and junior team members, contributing to a collaborative delivery culture

Managing one direct report from day one, with early-stage leadership and coaching skills expected to develop further as you grow in the role

Working closely with Principals and Senior Principals who provide guidance, oversight and commercial direction

Playing an active role in Expand’s community forums and knowledge sharing across the practice

Building toward increasing ownership of accounts and commercial responsibilities as you develop toward Principal level

What we’re looking for

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in financial services, consulting or market research; direct retail banking experience preferred.
  • A strong Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or quantitative subject is required.
  • A demonstrated track record of delivering high quality analytical work in a client facing environment, with increasing responsibility over time.
  • Solid understanding of retail banking, covering key product areas such as lending, deposits, payments and digital channels, or a strong foundation and the curiosity to build this quickly.
  • Strong ability to interrogate and synthesise data, with fluency in benchmarking data, retail banking performance metrics and structured survey datasets.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel (pivot tables, complex datasets) and PowerPoint, with the ability to build clear, well-structured client presentations.
  • Clear, structured communication skills and the confidence to present to senior client contacts without close supervision.
  • Strong project and time management skills, comfortable managing multiple concurrent workstreams and shifting priorities without a fixed playbook.
  • A collaborative, proactive mindset with genuine energy for team and firm goals.
