Category Manager – Indirect Procurement

Overview

In this role you will lead indirect sourcing for a diverse supplier base within Teledynes manufacturing operations. You will define and drive sourcing strategies, manage global supplier networks, and ensure delivery against KPIs. You collaborate with project teams and supplier QA to secure quality parts and on-time milestones. This role offers autonomy and impact in a high-technology, ethics-driven environment. You will help optimize costs and supplier performance across multiple business units.

Responsibilities

• Control the sourcing strategy for a selected group of indirect commodities with autonomy to adjust supply base
• Identify, benchmark and select new suppliers to execute the sourcing strategy
• Manage a global network of suppliers and contracts to meet project schedules
• Establish contracts and framework agreements to ensure supply security and KPI improvements
• Identify alternative sources to reduce costs and improve quality
• Implement supplier development plans yielding tangible improvements
• Coordinate activities between business and suppliers to align with priorities and improve performance
• Manage supplier performance using data to drive continuous improvements
• Collaborate with project teams to define procurement requirements and meet milestones
• Coordinate with supplier quality assurance to ensure high-quality parts for production and efficient issue resolution
• Participate in or lead internal procurement projects as required

Key requirements

• Strong working knowledge of SAP would be highly advantageous
• Specific commodity management experience
• Significant procurement experience in a highly technical, complex environment
• Significant experience in indirect procurement
• Experience in a manufacturing environment (low volume / high mix preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject would be advantageous
• MCIPS qualifications would be advantageous
• Advanced Excel for data compilation and evaluation
• MS Office proficiency – Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, PowerPoint
• Willingness for global travel
