Overview
As Indirects Buyer at Starbucks, you will analyze complex data and market information to shape strategic sourcing recommendations. You’ll manage indirect spend categories, build category strategies, and negotiate contracts while overseeing supplier performance. You’ll work cross-functionally to monitor market trends and drive profitability and market share. Responsibilities
- Lead the sourcing strategy by understanding key industry players and market dynamics
- Develop sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories and manage suppliers and internal networks for top-tier performance
- Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, cost modelling and root cause analysis to inform sourcing recommendations
- Manage spend commodities relevant to indirect categories
- Negotiate and execute contracts for targeted spend categories
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, price positioning and stock availability; collaborate cross-functionally to maximize sales and profitability
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to identify most cost-effective options
- Develop supplier assessments and scorecards to effectively manage supplier performance
- Assist in managing complex, cross-functional projects
- Coach and develop the procurement team to support their growth
Key requirements
- Strong commercial understanding, ideally in retail or hospitality
- Proven negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship management skills
- Working knowledge of market analysis, sourcing category strategy and should-cost models
- Familiarity with procurement legal, noncomplex contracting and business ethics
- Strong data analysis skills to drive decisions, strategies and market insights
