Commercial Contract Lawyer

Overview

In this Legal Counsel role, you provide commercially focused, timely legal advice across B2B matters to support business objectives. You’ll own contract workstreams, draft and negotiate customer and supplier agreements, and maintain standard terms while escalating high-risk issues. You’ll partner with stakeholders to enable efficient contract delivery and stay updated on legal developments and regulatory context. This position offers visibility across a fast-paced telecoms environment and a path to shape commercial legal standards within O2 Business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to safeguard value while enabling growth.

Responsibilities

• Negotiation and drafting of B2B contracts (customers and suppliers)
• Drafting and maintenance of standard customer-facing terms and conditions
• Drafting settlement agreements and advising on dispute resolution
• Manage relationships and business partnering with stakeholders
• Proactively supports contract management function
• Escalation of material issues and reporting on project status and risk
• Supporting corporate governance and contract sign-off processes
• Knowledge sharing and team development; leading by example in developing standards

Key requirements

• Experienced commercial contracts lawyer; in-house experience preferred
• Practising solicitor or barrister (England and Wales)
• Commercially minded with ability to balance risk and business objectives
• Strong drafting, review and negotiation skills across commercial/B2B contracts
• Confident communicator who can explain complex issues to non-legal stakeholders
• Highly organized, resilient, able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
• Proactive, autonomous, with good judgment on escalation needs
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; ability to craft creative legal solutions; understanding of B22B telecoms regulatory environment advantageous
