Overview

As Structural Team Lead in Stantec’s Water offices, you will provide regional leadership and technical expertise to a high-calibre team. You’ll guide project delivery using state-of-the-art methods while mentoring staff and fostering strong client relationships. The role combines hands-on delivery with people leadership to ensure on-budget, on-time, high-quality outcomes. You will travel regularly to coordinate with the Structural Team across multiple locations and drive collaboration with regional partners. This role offers the chance to shape solutions for water infrastructure and advance the team’s capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and line management for the Structural Team
  • Deliver structural design expertise using state-of-the-art techniques
  • Coordinate with Pune for integrated work and collaboration
  • Ensure projects meet outputs, budgets, schedule, and quality standards
  • Influence others through technical knowledge and communication
  • Plan and coordinate resources with group managers
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of survey, design, drafting, project and contract management standards
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to engender trust in the group
  • Provide technical training and mentoring to staff
  • Review and check colleagues’ work and prioritise tasks
  • Support and develop team members across the region
  • Build relationships with new clients and stakeholders
  • Adopt a hands-on approach to project delivery

Key requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related subject with knowledge of water retaining structures
  • Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g. IStructE, ICE) with practical hands-on experience in structural engineering or water engineering
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff
  • Oversee project budgets and timelines for structural engineering aspects
  • Prepare and review technical documents, reports, and proposals
