Across Ball Clay Quality, you lead a small team of Laboratory Technicians to ensure accurate testing and robust QA processes. You drive health, safety and environmental standards while sustaining continuous improvement in laboratory performance. This hands-on leadership role blends technical lab expertise with people management to maintain high-quality products and compliant operations. You’ll influence safety culture, data integrity and cross-site collaboration, delivering reliable results for customers.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day laboratory activities and priorities
- Support routine quality control testing and validation activities
- Review and approve laboratory data and quality results
- Manage sample requests and laboratory workflow
- Promote zero-harm safety culture and lead EH&S inspections
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions
- Coach, develop and coordinate Laboratory Technicians; manage workloads and priorities
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and environmental compliance; support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
- Support audits and compliance activities
Key requirements
- Experience in a laboratory, quality control, testing or analytical environment
- Experience leading or coordinating others
- Strong organizational, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Methodical, accurate with attention to detail
- Experience investigating quality issues and supporting CAPA
- Proficiency with laboratory systems, databases and reporting tools
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites
- Scientific, laboratory or technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- Previous roles: Laboratory Supervisor, Quality Supervisor, Senior Laboratory Technician or Team Leader
