Overview

As Cable Routing Engineer, you contribute to the electrical discipline for HPC/SZC, focusing on designing and validating cable routing networks within UK rules. You work with the routing and layout teams to produce reliable routing deliverables and handle design changes with risk assessments. You will train others on routing software and share experience to improve engineering quality. This role offers impact on major nuclear projects and the chance to shape safety‑critical electrical infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Produce routing reports ensuring accurate cable paths and lengths per UK routing rules
  • Interface with layout team to assess trays filling, 3D model quality, and electrical openings
  • Assess feasibility and risk of design changes impacting routing activity
  • Provide user feedback and beta testing for routing software
  • Communicate progress in weekly routing, layout, and management meetings
  • Provide training on cable routing software and discipline rules
  • Participate in experience sharing and process improvements across projects

Key requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 1–2 years’ experience in Electrical design
  • Knowledge of EPR design principles
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
  • Proactive in coordinating with remote teams (France, Germany)
  • Ability to mentor others and improve engineering quality
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage stakeholders
