Overview

In this role you support the Public Health Knowledge and Intelligence Team to improve population health and reduce inequalities in Derbyshire. You will apply epidemiological and statistical methods to generate actionable insights for policy and service development. You will lead and contribute to epidemiological, research and evaluation workstreams, and translate evidence into decision-making and strategy. The role emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and building research capability across the council. This is an opportunity to shape local public health priorities and drive real-world impact.

Responsibilities

  • lead and contribute to epidemiological, research and evaluation workstreams
  • analyse and interpret complex data and critically appraise evidence
  • translate findings into clear, actionable insights for policy and service development
  • provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and partners
  • identify research priorities and support development of new research activities
  • secure external funding by supporting grant applications
  • build research capability among staff through training and mentorship
  • embed research and evidence-based practice across local government

Key requirements
