Overview
In this role you will oversee a portfolio of the firm’s largest PI audit engagements, balancing technical delivery with client relationships and financial performance. You will lead a multi‑engagement team, develop the PI practice in Birmingham and the Midlands, and contribute to business development. You’ll model integrity and quality in line with ISAs and firm standards while guiding junior colleagues. This is a high‑impact position with autonomy and opportunities to shape audit practice and client outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Own design and oversight of audit strategies across PI engagements, ensuring ISA compliance and adherence to firm methodology
- Serve as the final review point for complex matters and escalate to partner when needed
- Act as technical reference point for PI matters and oversee independence and ethics across the portfolio
- Manage senior relationships with Group FCs and Finance Directors, and lead communication of findings to Audit Committees
- Contribute to PI practice development including bids, tenders, and new business activity
- Lead and develop a multi‑grade team and drive resource planning for the Birmingham office
- Own budget and profitability across the portfolio and negotiate fees as required
- Plan and oversee delivery across multiple PI audit cycles and coordinate specialist input
- Model risk management and professional standards, maintaining mandatory training across the portfolio
Key requirements
- Fully qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA/ICAS/ICAEW or international equivalent)
- Experience planning, leading and delivering major external audit engagements in a senior managerial capacity
- Experience in line management and contributing to business development within an audit practice
