Overview

As Mechanical Contracts Manager you oversee multiple live mechanical building services projects, providing technical, commercial and programme guidance to the project delivery team. You act as a senior point of contact for client-facing matters and escalate issues with practical, hands-on leadership. You will drive risk reviews, procurement monitoring and project close-out while maintaining delivery standards across projects. This role supports sustainable, standards-driven project delivery within a forward-thinking consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple live mechanical building services projects and support Project Managers
  • Provide technical, commercial and programme guidance to the delivery team
  • Conduct regular project and site reviews to maintain visibility across live projects
  • Intervene at senior level on client, technical, commercial or delivery issues
  • Review project risks and ensure mitigation measures are in place
  • Monitor procurement, programme, commissioning and close-out phases
  • Support Project Managers to maintain standards and consistent delivery
  • Assist with allocation of labour, plant and resources across projects
  • Maintain strong client relationships and manage senior client-facing matters
  • Collaborate with wider management on operational and project-related matters
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the mechanical project delivery team
  • Drive consistent standards, processes and best practice in project delivery
  • Support successful project completion from pre-construction to handover

Key requirements

  • Significant experience managing mechanical building services projects
  • Experience as Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar senior delivery role
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects and supporting Project Managers
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project financial performance
  • Experience managing programme, procurement, commissioning and close-out
  • Strong problem-solving and practical decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and client management skills
  • Experience allocating labour and resources across multiple projects
  • Confidence to make decisions and take ownership
