Overview
In this EC&I Design Engineer role, you will contribute to high-quality electrical and control designs within a specialized engineering team. The position sits in a regulated environment where training supports adapting skills to nuclear standards, even if prior nuclear experience isn’t required. You’ll develop schematics, layouts, and documentation while collaborating across functions to meet programme and build objectives. Responsibilities
- Produce electrical and control design outputs (schematics, layouts, schedules) under guidance
- Apply engineering judgement to equipment selection and buildable designs
- Interpret project requirements, identify gaps or inconsistencies, raise issues
- Resolve routine design challenges with input from reviews
- Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and production/commissioning teams
- Engage in technical discussions, design reviews, and site visits as needed
- Ensure designs comply with procedures, ISO standards, and safety requirements
- Maintain clear engineering records for handover and checking
Key requirements
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical, Control, or related engineering (degree advantageous)
- 3+ years EC&I design experience in engineering, industrial, or regulated environments
- Experience in regulated industries (Oil & Gas, energy, utilities, manufacturing)
- UK security vetting capability
- CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, EPLAN or equivalent)
- Experience specifying EC&I equipment for control panels and relay-based systems
- Awareness of functional safety, PLC-based systems, BS7671, instrumentation, MCC/switchgear
