Overview

In this role you will lead structural projects for high-security facilities, spanning feasibility to construction support. You will work on diverse materials and complex assets, including refurbishment and strengthening of existing buildings, within a defence and public-sector context. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant designs while mentoring junior engineers. The opportunity combines technical challenge with long-term career growth in a major London-based practice.

Responsibilities

  • Take projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support
  • Conduct structural analysis and design across steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber
  • Review historical data, assess existing structures, and develop strengthening/refurbishment solutions
  • Produce and review calculations, specifications, and design reports; coordinate with Revit Technicians and engineers
  • Collaborate with Architects, MEP teams and specialists across the business
  • Engage with clients, participate in design meetings and technical decisions
  • Mentor junior engineers and develop within the team
  • Navigate security, information management and confidentiality requirements on MOD/MoJ projects

Key requirements

  • Experience in a UK Structural Engineering Consultancy
  • Strong analysis and design capability across common building materials
  • Experience with existing structures, refurbishment or assessments
  • Proficiency with Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Robot, SCIA, Revit or AutoCAD
  • Understanding of BIM and multidisciplinary design coordination
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Progress towards Chartered status or CEng/IEng
  • Clear communication with clients and project teams
  • Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance
  • Clear communication with clients and cross-disciplinary teams
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers
