Overview

In this role you will lead commercial and financial oversight for fit-out construction projects, ensuring cost control, contractual compliance, and strong stakeholder coordination. You will work with a skilled project team to manage budgets across complex schemes and support project delivery from tender to final accounts. The position offers exposure to high-profile commercial, residential, and life science projects within a forward-thinking organisation emphasizing ESG and quality. You will help drive value through accurate cost reporting, risk management, and collaborative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Support health and safety compliance across work packages and contribute to overall project delivery
  • Manage allocated elements of work under guidance of Senior Cost Manager / Commercial Lead
  • Develop tender lists and prepare detailed tender documentation
  • Evaluate tenders commercially, including running meetings and preparing recommendation reports
  • Prepare and administer contract documentation
  • Review subcontractor and consultant submissions from a commercial perspective
  • Manage change control processes, including instructions, cost agreement, and variations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project accounts
  • Carry out site inspections to assess progress and commercial performance
  • Prepare interim valuations and manage payment processes
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts
  • Support cash flow forecasting and cost reporting
  • Assist with insurance claims where required

Key requirements

  • Proven Quantity Surveying experience, ideally on large-scale commercial, residential, or retail projects
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across project teams
