Insurance Underwriter

Overview

As an Insurance Underwriter, you will assess and underwrite commercial risks within authority, aiming to maximise profitability through sound decisions. You will review products offered both on and offline to ensure ongoing compliance with high standards and regulatory requirements. You will build strong relationships with clients, solicitors, brokers and internal teams, supporting engagements via presentations and events. You’ll mentor less experienced colleagues and contribute to ongoing business initiatives. The role offers hybrid working within an established insurer and long-term career opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite commercial risks within approved authority levels and optimise profitability
• Review and ensure products (panel/schemes) meet standards and regulatory requirements
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, solicitors, brokers and internal units
• Support relationships through presentations, meetings and corporate events
• Provide training and support to junior team members to develop proficiency
• Contribute to ongoing business initiatives and cross-functional projects
