Overview

In this role you will plan and lead the delivery of a capital programme for a major water sector client, operating from Warrington three days per week. You will act as the interface between the area delivery team and the business, coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. You will apply risk and cost management expertise to protect value, while upholding Mace’s safety and integrity standards. This position offers visibility at senior levels and opportunities to progress toward professional qualifications. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive effective decision-making and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead risk and cost management for the capital programme
  • Coordinate with area delivery team, client, and contractors to ensure successful delivery
  • Negotiate with third parties on cost management matters
  • Design and develop risk management reports using core tools
  • Monitor data quality and provide basic analysis and commentary
  • Support health, safety, and wellbeing requirements aligned with corporate values
  • Present to and influence stakeholders with clear, persuasive messaging
  • Mentor and develop more junior team members
  • Represent Mace professionally in all stakeholder interactions

Key requirements

  • Risk management experience
  • Cost management awareness and ability to promote value for money
  • Understanding of Mace way (control centre) processes
  • Working knowledge of current project management methodologies and tools
  • Ability to lead negotiations with third parties as cost management specialist
  • Strong data validation and reporting capabilities
  • CSCS card
  • Experience engaging with clients and wide teams
  • Progressing towards professional qualification (e.g., APM, MSP, PPC)
  • Persuading and influencing clients, consultants, and suppliers
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication
  • Leading and developing others
  • Risk management reporting using core risk management tools
  • Knowledge of the Mace way (control centre) and related processes
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools
