Overview

In this role you will support our PMO Midlands by delivering planning, scheduling, performance reporting and risk management services on high-profile infrastructure programmes. You will work within a Project Controls team or as the primary client contact, shaping control baselines and insightful reports to drive project decisions. The role offers exposure to diverse sectors and the opportunity to grow into leadership through our regional network and line managers. You will contribute to a culture focused on continuous improvement and delivering client value.

Responsibilities

  • Support cost and planning engineers to develop work breakdown structures and robust performance baselines
  • Establish progress and cost monitoring methods and produce project control reports
  • Provide performance analysis and recommendations for clients
  • Collaborate with teams on schedule construction and baseline management
  • Conduct assurance reviews to ensure high-quality schedules (e.g., Schedlog checks) and monitor progress data
  • Engage with clients as the day-to-day contact point on projects
  • Contribute to planning workshops and escalation of issues
  • Support delivery across multiple infrastructure sectors (power, water, rail, highways, etc.)

Key requirements

  • Experience in a project controls environment within infrastructure (Energy, Defence, Rail, Airports, Highways, Water/Utilities)
  • Experience in Programme Controls Management, Earned Value (EVM), Change & Risk Management, Planning, Project Controls or PMO
  • Graduate in a relevant discipline with experience in project control environment
  • Experience using Primavera P6, Power BI, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Autonomous and capable of working both independently and in a team
  • Strong time management, quick-thinking, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practice planning principles and schedule construction
  • Assurance and quality checks for schedules using tools/checklists (e.g., Primavera Schedlog, Acumen Fuse, DCMA 14-Point Checklist)
  • Experience with schedule monitoring and variance reporting
  • Ownership of promoting a positive, can-do culture around Schedule Management
  • Strong communication (verbal and written)
