Overview

As Senior Tax Manager, you will drive UK direct tax compliance and group tax reporting within AstraZeneca’s Global Tax Operations. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams and lead on UK tax computations, governance, and audits, helping to shape tax processes for a FTSE 100 business. You’ll stay ahead of UK tax changes, support planning cycles, and explore automation and AI to improve efficiency. This role offers the chance to impact UK tax outcomes in a globally focused, collaborative environment. You will work closely with senior finance and tax colleagues to ensure timely, accurate tax accounting and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review UK corporation tax computations and UK obligations (e.g., patent box, capital allowances)
  • Delegate and review tax analysis prepared by finance colleagues
  • Support tax governance processes (Corporate Criminal Offence, Senior Accounting Officer regime)
  • Review UK tax issues (Corporate Interest Restriction, CFC risk assessments)
  • Monitor UK tax legislation changes and update processes accordingly
  • Coordinate with UK accounting teams to ensure timely tax information for reporting and audits
  • Prepare responses to HMRC audit queries and participate in HMRC meetings
  • Provide day-to-day UK tax advice on projects and compliance implications
  • Prepare quarterly and year-end UK tax provisions for reporting and group consolidation; ensure SOX alignment
  • Contribute to group planning/forecasting from a tax perspective
  • Advance process efficiencies through automation and AI

Key requirements

  • Qualified tax professional (ACCA, ACA, CTA)
  • Significant UK corporate tax compliance and reporting experience
  • Ability to monitor UK tax changes and implement process updates
  • Experience with group planning, budgeting, and forecasting from a tax angle
  • Strong analytical/research skills and effective use of technology for tax processes
  • Ability to lead multiple actions in a coordinated, organized manner
  • Efficient process management and delegation capabilities
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
