Overview
In this Senior Planner role you will lead planning across multiple projects within a programme, creating robust schedules that inform management decisions. You will coordinate with project teams to align time, cost, risk, and scope, ensuring delivery to time and cost targets and quality standards. Your work supports senior management and integrates project controls standards. You will contribute to a collaborative, client-focused environment while developing junior planning professionals and driving efficiency. Responsibilities
- Lead planning on complex projects or programmes and mentor junior planners
- Create, develop, and maintain project schedules aligned with requirements
- Adhere to NEC or FIDIC processes for schedule data and submissions
- Support status reporting and keep management informed of progress
- Oversee Integrated Project Controls standards and process implementation
- Define scope of work to develop detailed schedules and cost data
- Assist project managers with scheduling and coordination
- Evaluate schedule progress, identify risks, and recommend recovery actions
- Analyze float, critical path, and constraints to assess impacts of changes
- Conduct project progress reviews and consolidate schedules into IMS
- Monitor project KPI status and report EV M (Earned Value Management) periodically
- Provide functional leadership, mentoring, and coaching to planning personnel
Key requirements
- Senior project controls experience with Planning & Scheduling across project lifecycles
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and other planning/resourcing software
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across functions
- Strong communication, leadership, and influence abilities
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and building a collaborative environment
- BPSS level security clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., APM, PMI)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Risk-based decision-making in unclear parameters
- Strong stakeholder management and conflict navigation
