Senior Project Accountant

Overview

In this role, you will own the financial management of assigned projects, including setup, billing, costs, PO management, and timesheet accuracy. You will lead project accounting within an MCC, guiding finance activities and driving performance metrics. You’ll influence project outcomes through forecasting, cost control, and risk awareness, coaching junior accountants and partnering with project managers. Responsibilities

• Own and oversee project accounting duties for assigned projects
• Lead MCC finance activities and monitor performance metrics
• Provide guidance and training to Project Accountants
• Manage project controls: cost estimation, EVM, variance analysis, schedules
• Support project managers and operations with financial insights for decision-making
• Handle client invoicing, budgeting, purchase orders, and PIF setup
• Attend project and business reviews and escalate risks
• Maintain risk register and ensure policy adherence
• Lead/participate in special projects and process improvements

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in project accounting, preferably in engineering, construction, or infrastructure
• Graduate-level qualification or equivalent in finance/accounting; Part Qualified CA considered
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Experience with WIP and project accounting; multi-currency projects
• Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (preferably EBS and Oracle)
• Excellent attention to detail and structured, collaborative working style
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, international consulting environment
