Overview

In this role you will coordinate manuscript flow from submission to publication for Heliyon, an all-science, open-access journal. You will assess new submissions for ethical and scientific compliance, ensuring quality and alignment with standards. You will monitor external editors, handle technical queries, and help manage backlog to keep editorial processes efficient. You will work within a collaborative, international STMJ team and contribute to ensuring rigorous publishing practices. Responsibilities

  • Assess newly submitted manuscripts for ethical and scientific compliance, as well as completeness
  • Review to-be-accepted manuscripts for adherence to publishing and ethical standards
  • Spot-check performance of external academic editors and provide structured feedback
  • Support technical queries from external editors
  • Contribute to systematic chasing of pending tasks and backlog management
  • Assist in the editorial process as required as the journal evolves

Key requirements

  • BSc degree (or equivalent) in life, medical, social or physical sciences
  • Enthusiastic proactive attitude, strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to change, manage multiple responsibilities, and prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal skills within an international team
  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently without constant supervision in a dynamic environment
  • PC proficiency with expertise in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
