Senior Production Engineer

Overview

Senior Production Engineer at SPX Technologies drives technical leadership across production and manufacturing to ensure efficient, compliant product delivery. You will bridge Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams to enable continuous improvement and robust lifecycle management. You’ll own documentation, change management, and manufacturing data packs while mentoring junior staff and supporting lean initiatives. This role offers impact across product design, manufacturing processes, and operational performance in a global, diversified team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical interface between Production/Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams with documentation accountability
• Lead creation, validation, and maintenance of part numbers, BOMs, and product structures ensuring configuration compliance
• Create and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with cross-functional reviews and implementations
• Proactively monitor component obsolescence, identify alternatives, and drive continuity plans
• Own the Manufacturing Data Pack for ECS products ensuring accuracy and alignment with production and customer requirements
• Lead/mechanically and electrically/electronically design updates supporting manufacturability and cost-reduction
• Maintain configuration management processes, governance, and engineering management plans with full traceability
• Develop and improve Assembly Instructions and manufacturing documentation for efficiency and standardisation
• Own the Production Feedback Register, driving corrective actions and capturing lessons learned
• Support Sales/Commercial teams with part number/model descriptors and customer configurations
• Mentor junior technicians and production staff to develop capabilities and knowledge sharing
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency

Key requirements

• Experience in Production/Manufacturing Engineering roles with product and process support responsibilities
• Managing complex BOMs, ECOs, and configuration management processes
• Strong track record in supporting production operations and driving continuous improvement
• Experience leading cross-functional projects across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial
• Practical experience with mechanical and/or electrical/electronic product updates and production implementation
• Lifecycle management including obsolescence, alternative components, and change control
• Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions, and engineering data management systems
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for fast-paced production environments
• Mentoring or supporting junior engineers/technicians is advantageous
• Basic knowledge of RF concepts is highly desirable
