Principal Technical Program Manager – FDE

Overview

As a Principal Technical Program Manager in the Microsoft Frontier Company, you embed with strategic customers to drive complex AI-enabled programs from problem framing to measurable outcomes. You work with cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and designers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped, production-ready solutions. You apply AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery while upholding security and quality. This role offers high autonomy, direct influence on customer outcomes, and opportunities to scale impact through reusable patterns and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Embed with strategic customers to lead complex programs across AI, cloud, and data
• Own the customer journey end-to-end from problem definition to co-engineering delivery and outcomes
• Apply AI-assisted engineering practices across the full software lifecycle to accelerate value
• Operate using engineering tooling (VS Code, GitHub, AI agents) to plan, document, and lead programs
• Make decisions under ambiguity, identify opportunities, and manage risk with data-driven recommendations
• Cultivate reusable patterns, open-source assets, and engineering playbooks to scale impact
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design and deliver AI-powered cloud solutions
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices within the engineering community
• Uphold Microsoft values and culture of inclusion

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Several years managing cross-functional or cross-team projects
• Experience partnering with customers or internal stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Several years in customer-facing technical roles (e.g., consulting, solutions engineering, field engineering)
