Overview

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer in the Visual Computing Group, you drive research and deployment of advanced neural networks for game rendering and live streaming. You will shape ML methods and data pipelines to exceed current performance and visual quality, collaborating across Sony teams on R&D and publications. This role sits at the intersection of graphics, vision, and ML, offering impact on cutting-edge entertainment experiences. You will engage in publications and patent work, contributing to Sony’s leadership in interactive technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine core generative models for graphics and video processing across streaming and rendering applications
  • Research and prototype new graphics and video enhancement methods and data generation pipelines from generative models
  • Collaborate on drafting publications and patent submissions
  • Support cross-team R&D efforts within Sony Interactive Entertainment

Key requirements

  • PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, AI, ML, Computer Graphics or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of demonstrable research experience in industry or academia
  • Strong background in TensorFlow or PyTorch; Python and CV/graphics libraries; experience with image/video/graphics processing or computer vision
  • Evidence of leading technical developments through publications in top-tier venues (CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH)
  • Solid understanding of neural network architectures and related loss functions; experience with various architectures (CNNs, RNNs, transformers, diffusion) and with training/evaluation on large datasets (Python, HDF5 or similar)
