Overview
In this role you will design, build and secure advanced computational platforms that power UCL’s research. You will shape resilient, secure infrastructure spanning hardware, networking and monitoring, enabling researchers to work reliably at scale. There is room to grow into leadership or specialist paths in HPC/storage and cyber-security, while mentoring peers and guiding best-practice. You play a key role in advancing secure research environments across Data Science, Research Software Engineering and Infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement computational software and infrastructure for research use
- Apply security hardening and monitoring to ensure high resilience
- Provide cyber-security guidance across teams
- Support growth through training, line management or further specialisation in HPC/storage
- Collaborate with Data Science, Research Software Engineering and Infrastructure teams
- Advise on two or more security or HPC-related specialisations (e.g., ISO 27001, secrets management, auditing)
Key requirements
- Specialisations in two or more of: Security hardening, HPC systems, ISO 27001 certification, secrets management, auditing/monitoring, privileged access management, network security, Kubernetes security, trusted research environments
