Principal Designer

Overview

In this role you deliver CDM and health & safety consultancy from our London office to clients, shaping how projects meet legal and safety requirements. You will understand client needs, propose practical solutions, and ensure consistent service excellence. You’ll act as Principal Designer when needed and help clients navigate legal responsibilities under CDM regulations. You work with clients and internal teams to improve processes, balance risk and performance, and protect project outcomes while upholding Turner & Townsend’s trusted, professional stance.

Responsibilities

• Advise on CDM and H&S compliance and act as Principal Designer when required
• Develop and refine client systems and processes to improve CDM/H&S efficiency
• Establish strong client relationships and professionally represent the company
• Manage commissions and ensure alignment with client scope and company management systems
• Conduct H&S performance reviews and audits on behalf of clients
• Coordinate with SHQ and TT colleagues to maintain quality and profitability
• Prepare pre-construction information and relevant H&S files

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Full UK driving licence
• NEBOSH Diploma Level (or equivalent)
• GradIOSH or equivalent
• APS membership
• Experience as a Principal Designer
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to plan workload and meet deadlines
• Extensive knowledge of CDM Regulations
• Experience across diverse industry sectors advantageous
