Overview
You will support a safety-focused culture on highways and civil engineering projects, acting as a subject-matter expert on health and safety legislation and best practice. You will help monitor performance through measurement systems and collaborate with employees, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance. You will identify operational risks and coordinate with the central HSE team to drive improvements. You will develop briefing and communication strategies so safety plans are understood and applied across the workforce. Responsibilities
- Build a strong Health and Safety culture across the project
- Be a subject-matter expert on Health and Safety legislation and best practice
- Develop and maintain measurement systems for H&S performance
- Liaise with employees, subcontractors and suppliers on H&S matters
- Identify operational risks or opportunities and coordinate with the central HSE team
- Develop briefing and communication strategies to disseminate the H&S plan
- Promote company values in dealings with staff, clients and suppliers
Key requirements
- 2-5 years health & safety experience
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Tech IOSH
- Civil engineering experience (required)
- Highways experience advantageous
