Overview

In this role you will lead Risk Management within the Controls & Performance team to support major defense and public-sector projects. You work alongside project delivery teams to implement robust risk processes, tailor approaches to client needs, and drive continuous improvement. You will act as a risk SME on large programmes, shaping PMB and change control, and mentoring others. The opportunity offers exposure to a national team, diverse clients, and the chance to influence outcomes through strong risk leadership and performance measurement. Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of Risk Management professionals to deliver effective risk management across complex projects/programmes
  • Design and implement risk management processes tailored to client needs and aligned with best practice
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk management and interfacing project controls to create efficiency
  • Ensure risk data quality is robust and defensible under scrutiny
  • Support implementation and rollout of updated risk management approaches
  • Serve as risk subject matter expert on major projects/programmes
  • Collaborate with Integrated Project Team to establish a robust PMB and support change control
  • Design and deliver risk training and coach team members in risk practices
  • Facilitate risk workshops with SMEs to identify and update risks
  • Maintain risk registers and quality control of risk data and reporting
  • Drive mitigation actions across projects and programmes
  • Develop measurable management responses to risks
  • Promote benefits and requirements of Risk Management within teams
  • Manage QSRA/QCRA activities and interpret outputs to focus project efforts
  • Support efficient contingency drawdown processes
  • Engage with supply chain to understand and incorporate client risks
  • Coordinate with other Project Controls disciplines for aligned information
  • Support recruitment to grow project controls capability
  • Undertake line management for career development and performance
  • Contribute to national and regional risk communities

Key requirements

  • Experience in managing risk across multiple projects/programmes or similar risk role
  • Experience defining, improving, or implementing Risk Management approaches
  • Familiarity with ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA and their application
  • Experience with Quantitative Risk Analysis (Monte-Carlo) and interpreting outputs
  • Familiarity with risk tools (ARM, Predict!, Risk Controller, riskHive, Xactium)
  • Experience with QRA and software options (Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Safran)
  • Experience interfacing risk with other Project Controls disciplines
  • Risk qualification such as APM Risk Certificate Level 2, IRM or MoR desirable
  • Experience leading a small team desirable
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts desirable
  • UK driving license or ability to travel to client sites essential
  • Security clearance eligibility (MoD SC) essential
