Overview
As a Medical Editor at Medscape Medical Affairs, you will strengthen editorial operations and ensure scientific accuracy across client deliverables. You will lead QC/QA and fact-checking, shaping high-quality content within timelines and cross-functional teams. This role offers growth in medical communications and the chance to impact patient care through precise, reliable information. You will partner with MSDs, writers, editors, and project teams to sustain editorial excellence and scalable processes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated QC/QA reviewer for scientific content (agendas, outlines, slides, transcripts, web content, platform builds, MLR submissions)
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and appropriate style/messaging; align with client comments and MLR requirements
- Support standardization of QC/QA processes across projects
- Conduct rigorous fact checking using primary literature and validated sources
- Prepare and maintain annotated files for internal tracking and MLR submissions; create reference packs and supporting documents
- Review and verify references, citations, and bibliography formatting
- Complete intake forms, templates, and platform-handoff materials consistently
- Track and QC comment incorporation across all project reviews
- Collaborate with Medical Science Directors, medical writers, editors, creative services, and project managers
- Participate in team meetings and quality discussions; communicate editorial risks clearly
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in life sciences or healthcare field
- Experience in medical communications preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong editorial, proofreading, and scientific verification skills
- Ability to interpret clinical data and evaluate scientific accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with reference management and literature search platforms
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with remote/cloud-based systems (SharePoint, Google Drive, Workfront, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
