Project Manager

Overview

In this role you lead technology-enabled business change projects for Surrey County Council, partnering with senior stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams. You’ll manage the full project lifecycle to modernise services, improve customer experiences and deliver measurable benefits. The position offers variety, from major corporate solutions to smaller concurrent efforts, with a focus on governance, risk management and benefits realization. You’ll contribute to the council’s digital transformation agenda while promoting strong project management practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initiation to implementation
• Engage stakeholders and manage expectations
• Plan, procure, and manage suppliers and contracts
• Oversee systems implementation and integration; conduct business analysis
• Track scope, schedule, budgets, and quality against governance
• Promote PRINCE2 principles and project management best practices
• Coordinate resources across IT&D, business services and vendors
• Contribute to digital transformation and corporate technology initiatives

Key requirements

• Successful delivery of multiple projects through full lifecycle
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
• Experience managing project plans, risks, issues, budgets and resources
• Experience working with suppliers and external partners
• Ability to analyse complex information and develop practical solutions
• Experience applying PRINCE2 methodologies
• Knowledge of business change and technology-enabled transformation
• Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries
• PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification (or willingness to achieve)
• Competence using project management tools such as Microsoft Project
