Lead MEP Design Manager (Developer)

Overview

Lead the MEP design function for a large international real estate developer in North London. You will head a design management team, oversee external consultants and contractors, and drive MEP strategies across residential and mixed-use projects. The role combines technical leadership with stakeholder management to ensure compliant, energy-efficient, and well-integrated building services. You will shape design reviews, RFI handling, and BMS/ESCO collaboration to support project success and company objectives.

Responsibilities

• Review M&E consultant and specialist fee bids
• Contribute to M&E consultant selection and maintain relationships
• Review energy strategies and propose preferred solutions
• Verify fire strategies and M&E design compliance
• Carry out formal Stage 3 reviews
• Engage with specialists and coordinate M&E consultants
• Assist with M&E design issues and RFIs/technical submissions
• Facilitate Building Management System (BMS) design workshops
• Act as main contact for ESCO design matters
• Attend design team and project review meetings across multiple projects

Key requirements

• At least 15 years of experience in MEP design within consultancies or contractors
• Experience managing project design leads or MEP design managers
• Strong background in residential and mixed-use projects
• Developer or contractor experience preferred but not essential
