Overview
In this role you will lead and deliver diverse development schemes across the UK within a civil engineering consultancy. You will work to align designs with national standards and client needs, shaping highways, drainage, and public realm improvements. You’ll coordinate with authorities and clients to drive project delivery and fees, mentoring less experienced team members. This is a hands-on role that combines technical leadership with stakeholder engagement to realise high-impact infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
- Design highways in line with Local Highway Authority guidance, MfS, LTN 1/20, DMRB and NRSWA
- Design drainage following Sewerage Sector Guidance, Circuit for Adoption Agreements, and CIRIA C753 SuDS Manual
- Plan public realm and active travel improvements and oversee utilities coordination
- Manage site monitoring and assist in fee proposals and bids
- Liaise with highway and planning authorities to finalise designs
- Coordinate highway and drainage adoption processes including S278, S38, S104
- Prepare technical reports and attend meetings with clients, authorities, and other bodies
Key requirements
- Experience delivering high-quality design input across diverse projects
- Experience in commercial and residential development and public realm design
- Solid understanding of national design standards for highways and drainage adoption
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D, Causeway Flow/InfoDrainage, Vehicle Tracking, and KeyLINES/SIGN/POST
- Experience in earthworks design (cut and fill analysis)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities with proven project delivery
- Degree in Civil Engineering and working towards or holding Incorporated or Chartered status
