Overview

In this role you will lead civil infrastructure design and delivery for a versatile mix of highway schemes and large developments within a leading civil engineering consultancy. You’ll work across Birmingham, Bristol, or Reading offices, collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape access junctions and major projects while mentoring junior staff. You’ll apply current standards and best practices to deliver high-quality, on-time solutions that support growth and live projects at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver access junctions (roundabouts, signalised junctions, ghost-island turns, simple priority junctions)
  • Tackle a varied infrastructure portfolio from small developments to schemes supporting up to 5000 residential units
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure designs comply with legislation, best practice, and council policies
  • Mentor junior team members and support project delivery
  • Manage tasks to deliver projects on time and within budget

Key requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience designing access junctions from concept to detailed design
  • Strong knowledge of LTN1/20 cycling schemes
  • 3D modelling and drainage design experience including Section 278 designs
  • Knowledge of local authority and National Highways processes
  • Familiarity with DM RB, Manual for Streets, LTN1/20, NRSWA
  • Experience with adoption agreements (Section 278, 38, 104)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Vehicle Tracking, KeyLINES/SIGN/POST, Flow
  • Strong communication and ability to produce technical reports
