Overview

You will manage and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) across the site, writing procedures and guiding QMS development. You lead and participate in audits, including across the supply chain, and train staff to champion quality. You work on projects of moderate complexity with impact on delivery and compliance. You operate under supervision with milestones and management reviews, driving continuous improvement and strong quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and integrate the plant’s QMS with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, plus customer and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee implementation of the QMS and maintain accreditations
  • Maintain Quality Manuals and Procedures and ensure relevance
  • Assess current and future procedural needs
  • Organise internal audit system and corrective action reporting
  • Conduct Quality Systems audits and train auditors; host external audits
  • Provide training on quality issues and processes
  • Coordinate review of quality procedures with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Plan SOPs under overarching quality procedures and maintain SOP content
  • Support procurement, business services and design; assist in tender, design and manufacture audits
  • Collect quality data for KPI monitoring and non-conformity prevention
  • Assist with first-off sample approvals and quality awareness training
  • Promote Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, and Measurement System Analysis techniques
  • Stay abreast of manufacturing/engineering quality trends and undertake special projects
  • Lead process improvement activities and present progress to clients
  • Conduct benchmarking to identify best practices and future trends
  • Manage project planning, meetings, and communication; undertake ongoing training
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Lead the IT-led internal auditing system and conduct management reviews

Key requirements

  • IATF 16949 internal auditor (minimum); lead auditor ideal
  • Understanding of ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices
  • Knowledge of core quality tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (including Excel)
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements into outputs
  • Experience with IMDS (plus)
  • Quality experience in an IATF 16949 manufacturing environment
  • Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or ONC, A Levels, BTec Diploma Level 3 or NVQ Level 3
