Overview

In this role, you will support Moody’s UK Government and Public Affairs strategy by engaging with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups. You will prepare briefings and talking points for senior meetings, identify engagement opportunities, and contribute to thought leadership that informs UK policy positions. You will collaborate across Legal, Compliance, Communications, and business lines to align regulatory positions with commercial objectives. This role offers the chance to shape Moody’s UK policy stance while contributing to cross-regional initiatives and risk-focused public affairs work.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SVP in managing relationships with UK government officials, regulators, parliamentarians, trade associations, and other third parties
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and background research for external meetings; represent Moody’s at industry forums, working groups, and events where appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to engage with officials shaping the UK policy landscape and propose engagement strategies to the SVP
  • Contribute to thought leadership content on topics of interest to UK policymakers and regulators; develop policy briefing documents and testimony
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Communications, and business lines to ensure regulatory positions are commercially informed and internally aligned
  • Support cross-regional projects and initiatives within the wider Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs team
  • Share UK developments and participate in cross-regional coordination to support global functioning

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial services policy, regulation, government affairs, or related field
  • Experience drafting consultation responses, policy papers, regulatory filings, or equivalent analytical work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to distill complex policy issues into concise briefings
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external contacts across seniority
  • Well-organised with ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with credit rating agency regulation, capital markets policy, or related financial services frameworks preferred
  • Existing network of contacts within UK government, regulators, or industry circles preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency; proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions; awareness of AI risk management and commitment to ethical AI use
